Try this game and make up your own mind, but if you have limited bandwidth or time, be aware that you might not enjoy it.Need for Speed Underground 2 for Nintendo DS plunges gamers into the vibrant world of tuner culture, inviting them to explore a vast and bustling city divided into five unique neighborhoods. If you use it, you'll usually end up screwing up your race line. Unlike the consoles, the nitros are nearly unusable due to the bad physics. You have to win all the mini games to be able to upgrade your car. The mini games are a pain to get through and sadly they are necessary. I played the game to the very last race, and I can tell you that things never improve. It's really fun to try and perfect a race, but even if you drive the perfect race, the rubber-band-AI seem to always catch up, no matter how far ahead you are. This makes it impossible to make up for your mistakes. The AI will occasionally screw up but if the AI get too far away from you, it seems like the traffic in front of them disappear and they never seem to make a mistake. The AI is really where this game gets dodgy. If you hit an oncoming car, which mostly seem to spawn in front of you and not the AI, it will hurdle your car backwards and usually cause your car to turn diagonal, making it impossible to recover and get back into the race.
